Fixing the problems caused by spilt petrol and water are realtively simple, if messy. The battery acid is a lot more damaging. Wash it off with a lot of water. Like several litres, get it diluted to a point it is very weak. Do not wipe off with a damp cloth, get a lot of water onto it.
Of course, if the bike has to be transported on its side tyou can remove battery and drain fuel & oil. I have always used rathchet straps, as Biggles says, cheap at hardware warehouses, and on accaissions when I knew in advance that I'd be moving a lot of bikes and stuff, I have collected lots of old cushions and bits of dead furniture to use as padding and protection in transit. |
