All I'd say for that application is... bend the studding around the (presumably round section) frame tubes of the bike, and use the straightness and squareness of the parallel ends and the bit of flat bar to match up with the squareness of the box section luggage rails, because otherwise you'll have very sharp bends in the studding and it'll probably crack in the bottom of the thread grooves and also the flat bar will try and bend round the frame tubes and it'll be wobbly and bendy and not grip so well... But you've probably twigged all that without my help.
